Terms and Conditions
TERMS AND CONDITIONS INCLUDE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
PRODUCT LIABILITY AND INDEMNIFICATION
By Ordering, Purchasing, Attaching, and Using Motorcycle Drop Guards to said motorcycle, the Purchaser, Buyer, and User, and Affiliates and any all affiiliates of said affiliates agree to have read and agree to all terms and conditions, and agree to, and will indemnify, defend and hold harmless Seller (“Calley Motorcycle Parts, LLC and DBA MDG Products”) and each of its Affiliates, and each of its and its Affiliates’ employees, officers, directors and agents (each, a “Seller Indemnified Party”) from and against, any and all liability and loss, loss of income, damage to any, and all persons or property, and/or damage to any portion of said motorcycle whether installing, practicing or training, or during any operation of any motorcycle with an MDG Product Installed or In Use, including expense (including reasonable attorneys’ fees and expenses) and cost (collectively, a “Liability”) that the Seller Indemnified Party may be required to pay to one or more Third Parties resulting from, or arising out of personal injury or death of any person as a result of the use of any motorcycle with MDG Products installed or attached. Purchaser, User, Motorcycle Operator and/or Motorcycle Rider, agrees to use Motorcycle Drop Guards at their own risks, and agrees that riding a motorcycle is a dangerous activity, and that anything can happen when a motorcycle is dropped even at slow speeds as well as at any speed, based on rider experience, and response to the motorcycle being dropped, including any unforeseen circumstance. Purchaser, Buyer, and User, agrees to have read and understood all information related to the question and answer page on motorcycledropguards.com website, and agrees to remove motorcycle drop guards prior to operating a motorcycle on the public street(s), and will abide by all terms and conditions as listed, and agree to, and will indemnify, defend and hold harmless Calley Motorcycle Parts, LLC, and MDG Products (DBA) in any and all circumstances related to the use of Motorcycle Drop Guards which are not removed prior to operating a motorcycle on any, and all public roadways.
Motorcycle Drop Guards are intended to assist in protecting the specific parts of a motorcycle they are specifically designed for and properly attached to, from minor scratches and gouges while a rider practices slow speed maneuvers (at Less than 1200 RPM’s) in a controlled environment while learning maneuvers such as u-turns in spaces of 18-20 feet under qualified instruction. Using RPM's above 1200-1500, is not recommended and is not needed to make slow controlled u-turns and other slow speed maneuvers in parking lots under controlled conditions.
MDG Products recommends and advises to remove all accessories such as highway pegs, whips, saddle bags, or any accessory, including motorcycle drop guards that could possibly affect the lean angle, or operation of any motorcycle for novice riders or any rider, prior to operating said motorcycle on any pubic streets or roadways.
WARNING(s):
Though turns of 17 feet, and various street riding examples have been performed on video by trained motorcycle operators, please be advised Motorcycle Drop Guards, are not recommended or intended for those types of turns and/or street riding skills. The Lean Angle of any motorcycle could be affected and/or interfered by various factors such as road conditions, tire pressure, mechanical condition of a motorcycle, shocks, as well as the use of various accessories such as highway pegs, and other accessories including motorcycle drop guards, and could, and probably will interfere with turns of less than 18 feet such as within 2 parking spaces, as well as leaning the motorcycle prior to the lean angle allowed by the motorcycle manufacturer.
Though many competitive riders use motorcycle drop guards in confined space leans and turns of less than 18 feet, it is highly recommended and strongly advised to remove the primary lean indicator, and all front and rear motorcycle drop guards prior to any type of street riding, or confined space maneuvering of less than 18 feet. Motorcycle Drop Guards are not meant for riding conditions and skills involving leaning the bike in extreme curved and winding conditions, or roadways such as Tail of the Dragon, or any winding or curved roads, as this type of maneuvering, could and probably will be interfered with by either lowering the motorcycle, positioning of highway pegs, or use of motorcycle drop guards, in such leans.
Caution should be used when using motorcycle drop guards in conjunction with a lowered motorcycle. Motorcycle Drop Guards should be removed prior to riding any lowered motorcycle on the street.
The primary guard is used for training in slow speed controlled maneuvers to assist riders in learning u-turns and slow speed maneuvers, while training in advanced training classes under controlled environments with qualified instructors. The primary guard should be removed for street riding especially in winding and curved roads such as Tail of the Dragon, as it could possibly affect various leans executed out on the roadway based on rider skill and roadway conditions.
Please be advised the primary guard is meant to work with the front and rear motorcycle drop guards installed. The primary guard is not meant, or intended to work alone or with any other protective devices or means, other than the front and rear drop guards installed properly, and has never been used with, or intended to be used with, any other protective device. Purchaser and/or User agrees to accept all responsibility for any damage or injury related to using the primary guard on any said motorcycle.
The primary guard will not work as intended on lowered bikes. Please do not install on any motorcycle that has been altered from manufactured / manufacturer height unless done at your own risks.
Dropping, Dragging and Crashing the motorcycle into the concrete at any speed or while in motion especially at higher than 1200 RPM’s, is strongly not advised, as injury or damage could and probably will occur.
Though not guaranteed, or the intended purpose, Motorcycle Drop Guards may assist in protection to other parts of a motorcycle from receiving minor scratches and gouges such as exhaust pipes and floor board brackets, but there is no guarantee, as this is not the purpose or function of the motorcycle drop guards. Motorcycle Drop Guards are not intended to protect parts such as lower fairings, clutch handles or any other part of a motorcycle from damage, other than the factory parts they are specifically designed to assist in protecting, and only in the specific area attached.
Please remember, anything can happen when a motorcycle is dropped based on operator reaction, operating surfaces, and mechanical condition of said motorcycle, and of course freak of nature.
Saddle bags, especially stretched saddle bags should be removed, prior to slow speed practice, as these types of saddle bags have the ability to strike the ground when a Harley Touring Model has been dropped on its side. Though motorcycle drop guards may assist in reducing damage to these types of saddle bags, PLEASE BE ADVISED that is not their intended purpose.
Motorcycle Drop Guards are not meant, intended or expected to protect any rider, passenger, or any other person related to any motorcycling incident from any injury, and/or any property damage resulting from an accident, fall, or any type of motorcycle tip over, drop, or loss of control of by the motorcycle operator while operating any motorcycle, under any condition.
WARNING
Please do not operate or ride any motorcycle in which motorcycle drop guards are installed if you the user, rider, or passenger, do not feel safe in doing so, or have any question or doubt about your safety, or the risk of damage to any motorcycle, or property with the use of motorcycle drop guards installed and/or used or in use on any motorcycle.
Turning a motorcycle at slow speeds takes time and practice and can be extremely dangerous, as motorcycles can weigh 300-1000 pounds.
Motorcycles when dropped while moving can slide, as can also be expected with motorcycle drop guards. Care should be taken to release all power to the motorcycle if, and when, the motorcycle is dropped.
PLEASE BE ADVISED:
Before operating any motorcycle while learning and practicing slow speed maneuvers, operators should seek and be trained by experienced, qualified and professional motorcycle instructors. MDG Products encourages all riders to be trained properly in basic and advanced motorcycle skills. A qualified motorcycle instructor should always be consulted, and present during slow speed training for any rider, to assist should there be the need.
Based on the impact of a 500-950 pound motorcycle being dropped on the ground during slow speed maneuvers and training, or accidental tip overs, as well as the vibrations in which Harley Davidson motorcycles produce while being operated, all can and could be cause for fasteners to come loose. Please be advised as with oil pressure and tire pressure, it is up to the motorcycle operator to make sure to check the guards for any loose fasteners, damage and positioning, before each and every ride, and each and every time the motorcycle is dropped.
Improperly installing motorcycle drop guards can and probably will cause the guards to possibly break or strip the fasteners, and may fail to assist in reducing damage. Improperly installing motorcycle drop guards will cause the drop guards not to receive impact where appropriate and/or to not function properly as intended, and could possibly bend parts and/or break fasteners.
Drop Guards are made specifically for Stock OEM Harley, and Indian, Front Highway Bars and Rear Saddle Bag Bars.
Front Bars should be 1 ¼" inch (1.25) in diameter and standard stock OEM rear Harley saddle bag bars such as those on a Standard Stock Harley Road King, measuring approximately 7/8" in diameter.
Motorcycle Drop guards do not protect the rider or passengers from injury.
Motorcycle drop guards are not intended to assist in protecting any other part from minor scratching or possible damage, other than the front and rear bars they are specifically and properly attached, and only in the intended area for protection.

Electra Glides

OR IF Added to a Heritage of Fatboy with the same stock Harley OEM rear saddle bag bars.
Why do the rear drop guards not use acorn nuts on the screws like the front drop guards?
The rear drop guards have more clearance from the saddle bags with the use of regular nuts as opposed to acorn nuts. Acorn nuts are taller and may cause contact with the saddle bag, if the saddle bags are not removed during the development of riding skills. We go with what has worked for years after using acorn nuts in the beginning.
The Primary Guard fits the following models from 2016-2022
Models include:
Road Kings, Road Glide, Street Glide,
Road King Special, Road Glide Special, Street Glide Special
Road Glide Limited, Ultra Limited
Road Gide ST, Street Glide ST,
Electra Glides
CVO Street Glide, CVO Road Glide, CVO Road Glide Limited
THE PRIMARY GUARD IS NOT NEEDED ON MODELS PRIOR TO 2016.
Though it is included at no extra charge, it is not needed and is recommended not to use as the front and rear drop guards do the job.
Do the Motorcycle Drop Guards clear the lower fairings?
Yes
The drop guards have plenty of clearance between the lower fairings and drop guards when installed.
Please refer to photos in our gallery.
Will Drop Guards fit the new chopped / mini engine guard on the new Harleys?
Yes! check our photos out in the gallery
Motorcycle Drop Guards will work on Harley Touring Models WITH the NEW short/chopped mini engine bar placed on the new 2021 Road King, Street Glide, Road Glide and CVO. (please see photo of Road Glide for the new short/chopped engine bar)
Do the Drop Guards work on Harley models prior to 2016?
Yes
There has been some confusion as to whether the Drop Guards fit older Harley Touring models prior to 2016. They DO FIT with the Standard Harley OEM Front Highway Bars of 1.25 in diameter, and Harley OEM 7/8" diameter Rear Saddle Bag Bars.
Can I buy just the Primary Guard?
Yes, when we have extra stock.
Please be advised:
The Primary Guard will not work as intended without the front and rear drop guards installed. IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE THE PRIMARY GUARD AS NOT INTENDED, BE ADVISED the primary guard is not meant or intended to work with any other devices other than the front and rear drop guards installed properly, and may and probably will not work as intended without the front and rear drop guards installed.
Will Motorcycle Drop Guards work on a Softail, Dyna or Heritage?
Yes - But please refer to the requirements of crash bars and saddle bag bars
Will the Primary Guard Indicator fit a Heritage or a Dyna or Sportster or Indian?
No!
The Primary Indicator will not fit any other motorcycle other than Harley Touring Models as mentioned above.
It will not fit a sportster, softail, or Heritage or an Indian, Kawasaki, Yamaha, BMW etc.
Why are the Primary Guard screws black oxide instead of stainless?
We use Grade 8 Black Oxide because they are extremely strong and we have never broken one when slamming heavy touring model bikes into the ground while training.
Also the Primary Cover is made from cast aluminum. Aluminum and stainless do not play well together.
Any Photos or Videos of Stainless Steel Screws being used with the Primary Guard, are for Visual Purpose only!
Will the Grade 8 Black Oxide Primary screws rust?
Yes! But it has never been an issue to cause a problem
The screws will rust, but if that is an issue for you, you can refer to YouTube to learn how to use a very simple process of oil and heat to resist rust on black oxide screws.
We have never taking issue with the slight rust of the Grade 8 screws, as the screws are hardly seen and should be checked regularly for strength after extreme bike drops for tension and damage. Replacement screws can be purchased inexpensively at any hardware store.
Which Other Makes and Models of motorcycles will drop guards fit other than Harley?
Drop Guards have been installed and used on Indian Touring Models, Kawasaki and Yamaha.
Customers will need to ensure the highway bars and saddle bag bars on his/her motorcycle match the curvature and diameter of stock OEM Harley bars.
You will need inch and a quarter ( 1.25) front engine bars with the curvature of that of a stock Harley Front engine bar, and the standard REAR OEM Harley Saddle Bag Bars of 7/8".
The Motorcycle Drop Guards will not fit (3/4", 1", or 1.5, front or rear bars)
PLEASE UNDERSTAND!
IF YOU CANNOT MAKE THE DETERMINATION OF WHETHER YOUR BARS ARE THE SAME DIAMETER AND CLOSE CURVATURE OF STOCK OEM HARLEY FRONT AND REAR BARS, IT IS RECOMMENDED NOT TO PURCHASE DROP GUARDS FOR YOUR BIKE. WE HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING THE DIAMETER IF YOU CAN NOT DETERMINE THE CURVATURE AND DIAMETER WITH THE BAR IN FRONT OF YOU.
Will the drop guards fit mustache bars?
YES! But abide by the descriptions above.
Will Drop Guards fit other size engine guards or saddle bag bars bigger than 1.25 for the fronts or bigger than 7/8" for the rear bars?
NO! Absolutely not!
What are Motorcycle Drop Guards made of?
316L Stainless Steel and 1020 Steel.
The Polished 316L Stainless is extremely resistant to corrosive environments, easily repairable and easy to polish back to a mirror shine.
Powder Coat Gloss Drop Guards are made of 1020 Steel and all come with black hardware and can be easily repaired and painted with Black Gloss Spray Paint to a finish you would never expect from spray paint.
What is included in the Drop Guard Kit?
A Set of Drop Guards for Harleys include:
2 Front Drop Guards
2 Rear Saddle Bag Bar Drop Guards
1 Primary Guard for primary cover
(Included at no charge for Harleys Kits)
Primary Guard not included in the Indian kits as it is not needed
Please be advised the Indian Kits will only work on the models with lower fairings only shown on website. If your Indian has no lower fairings the drop guards will fit the standard OEM Indian front and rear crash bars.
Will Motorcycle drop guards protect my lower fairings?
Drop Guards may help keep lower fairings further from the ground, but are not meant to protect any factory part other than what they are properly attached too. They may assist the lower fairings of motorcycles from inadvertently contacting the ground surface should drop occur.
Please see our other options below and (photos in our Gallery) for adding additional protection for lower fairings.
What can I use to protect my lower fairings?
We have found that the rubber trim used for vehicle doors (to keep them from dinging other vehicle doors), and available at any auto parts store has been found to work extremely well in protecting the lower fairings on motorcycles that get dropped IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE USE OF motorcycle drop guards.
See photos on website for adding protection for protecting your lower fairings from inadvertently hitting the ground should the bike bounce hard enough. This is a very simple and inexpensive precautionary addition to the motorcycle drop guards.
Will Drop Guards protect stretch saddle bags?
Motorcycle Drop Guards have been found to assist in protecting standard stretch saddle bags placed on the Harley CVO and Road Glide, but as clearly stated that is not the intention of motorcycle drop guards. The drop guards are meant to protect against $1500 worth of factory parts and labor to the parts they are specifically attached too.
Can I order Motorcycle Drop Guards if I live outside the United States?
Yes! Please read International shipping instructions
We will ship outside the United States to most countries.
PLEASE ensure you have read the policy of International orders on our website.
Will Drop Guards work with Highway Pegs?
Yes
Highway Pegs may need to be re-positioned or removed to place guards in best position to receive impact.
Do I need to make any adjustments to the rubber gaskets of the drop guards?
YES - Please read below should this be necessary.
Its possible you may need to trim the rear gaskets slightly to ensure they do not protrude from the rear drop guards when installed.
The gaskets of the rear drop guards may need to be trimmed while installing
You do not want the rubber gasket sticking out from the body of the drop guards.
What are the SIZE FOR REPLACEMENT SCREWS?
Front Drop Guards use: 5/16 18 X 1 1/4" Allen Head Screws with 5/16" Acorn Nuts and Lock Washer
Rear Drop Guards use: 5/16 18 X 1 1/4" Allen Head Screws with 5/16 Hex Nut and Lock Washer.
Primary Indicator uses: Quarter 20 - 2.5" length Allen Head Screws with 1 washer on each screw. Please note: 2.5" length is from the bottom of the allen head to the end of the threads.
Replacement Hardware can be purchased from any Ace Hardware or from Bolts and Nuts in Houston, Texas
Can I have them shipped to a P. O. Box?
No, we cannot ship to a P.O. Box as we use UPS for all shipments.
Do I get instructions inside the box?
No
All instructions and installation video information is located on our website under Installation Video
Can I send my drop guards back to be repaired if I pay for it?
No, NOT AT THIS TIME.
At this time we do not offer repairs. Repairing the motorcycle drop guards is rather easily by someone who knows how to weld even a little and has the equipment. Any welding shop could repair them in an hour or so.
